In order to successfully migrate to the cloud you should not just think the initial stages of this journey. Your plan has to include every part of your cloud transformation, from the initial steps of migration to the entire adoption. You will not be in a position to decide if your cloud adoption succeed after working with cloud only for a few months, it takes time for the journey to complete. Be patient and open minded.
Adopting cloud is not an one off procedure that can be done overnight. It takes months to years for your company to fully integrate cloud capabilities into your local infrastructure and you have to be open for experimentation. You will need to think critically about your business needs in order to determine which data, processes and systems can move onto the cloud first and then via mini-projects, proof of concepts(POC) you will decide if it can work or not for your case.
At an early stage you need to think about what do you need cloud capabilities. AWS cloud is a very powerful platform that can help many companies scale and grow, but this does not mean that it is a best fit for all of your systems and processes. You might jsut need to store your data on the cloud or some of your systems. Maybe you are implementing a new application and you want to take advantage of AWS powerful tools. Whatever the reason, in order to be successful on the cloud it would be better to understand your needs in advance.
You cannot expect your cloud migration process to work instantly. You will face difficulties and barriers while migrating your valuable data and systems. This is very likely, and we are here to help. We can work together to be prepared for any scenario and provide expertise in any problem arises.
After successfully migrated whatever data, systems or processes wanted in the cloud this does not mean that you done. Take a deep breath, reward yourself and keep working. You need continuously re-examine you cloud account in order to find out if your cloud adoption strategy is working well enough.
This evaluation should include percentage of systems migrated in the cloud, timelines, existing systems’ improvement and upgrades and of course cost & performance optimizations.
This is a journey that never ends, this is just the beginning.
